About Us
Ikram Foundation recognizes that there is no formal support for divorced or widowed Muslim women in the United States.
The Iman Al-Shingieti Scholarship Program
Iman was one of the founders and the first executive director of Ikram Foundation. The Iman Al-Shingiethi Scholarship is a reminder of our organization’s roots and what we strive to accomplish.
Iman died suddenly in February of 2015, and left us with an revolutionary organization that is Ikram. Ikram Foundation established the
Iman Al Shingieti Scholarship Fund to commemorate her dedication and hard work. She will always be in our thoughts and prayers.
Iman was known for her activism and her dedication to advancing the rights of Muslim women. She energetically adopted the vision that Ikram Foundation could be a source of support for divorced and widowed Muslim women to help them recreate their lives and increase their earning potential.
Iman was in her 60’s when she fist graduated from George Mason University with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. She laid the foundation for our work and we are honored to uphold her legacy through this scholarship.
